I remember the day, it was December 2019, I convinced my wife to buy a Canada Goose Expedition Parka. She was hesitating because she liked Victoria Parka, but I knew that if we were going to be spending a month in Winnipeg, she would need something warm for the coldest of days.

The Expedition Parka is the warmest coat made by Canada Goose, and I suggested this so that when temperatures dropped below -30 degrees Celsius (which they often do in Winnipeg), she’d be prepared. With some convincing (and maybe a little bribery) we ended up buying two parkas—one for me and one for her.

Warmth & Comfort

The first time we put on our new Expedition Parkas was in Winnipeg. I couldn’t help but be impressed. The 625-fill power duck down liner kept us warm and cozy, while the hood provided a great deal of protection from the cold winter wind. We also appreciated the ribbed cuffs that sealed in even more warmth.

We were amazed at just how comfortable they were – it was like wearing a cloud! We felt so insulated and safe when we had them on; it was almost as if nothing could penetrate this barrier between us and the extreme temperature outside.

During our stay in Winnipeg, there were a few days when temperatures dropped below -30 degrees Celsius with no sign of warming up anytime soon. But thanks to our trusty Expedition Parkas, we didn’t have to worry about being too cold or uncomfortable during these frigid days.

The Expedition Parka was designed for the research scientists who work at McMurdo Station, Antarctica. The lowest recorded temperature at McMurdo Station is -47 degree celsius. So, they needed a parka that can keep them warm & comfortable, and Canada Goose provided that.

So, there is doubt about the warmth, you can not get a warmer parka than the Expedition.

Size & Fitting

I’m 6’0” so I ordered a size M and although it fit me decently, it wasn’t perfect. On the other hand, my wife is 5’7”, so she chose a size XS – and it fit her perfectly! Her parka was snug around her body but still allowed for plenty of movement; no matter how much she twisted or turned in it, she felt like royalty in this cozy coat!

Classic vs Fusion Fit

Classic and Fusion Fitting

We both chose a classic fit. Classic fit means regular size fitting, so it is designed to accommodate a range of body shapes and sizes. For someone with smaller body frames, Canada Goose also offers Fusion Fit which has shortened sleeve and hem length, smaller hood, and narrower chest & hip width.

Features of Canada Goose Expedition Parka

Insulation

The Canada Goose Expedition Parka is designed to keep you warm in even the most frigid of temperatures. The insulation is made from 625-fill power white duck down, providing superior warmth and protection from cold weather. The down is treated with special water repellent, ensuring that you stay dry even on the snowiest and wettest days.

Hood & Adjusters

The Expedition Parka has an adjustable hood that can be tightened or loosened with Velcro adjusters, so you can customize the fit according to your preferences. The hood also includes an insulated brim that keeps snow out of your face and provides extra protection for your head.

Backpack Straps

The Canada Goose Expedition Parka has an innovative feature that allows you to carry it hands-free when not in use. Interior backpack straps are cleverly hidden away, and when you feel too warm in your parka, you can easily carry it as a backpack.

Removable Fur Ruff & Waist Cinch

It also includes a removable fur ruff for added warmth and style, as well as an internal waist cinch for a snug fit. This makes it easy to customize the parka according to your own needs and preferences.

A Lot of Pockets

One of the things we both love about the Expedition Parka is that it has a lot of pockets. There are 11 pockets in total that provide plenty of space for all your winter essentials. You can even store items such as hand warmers or a small thermos flask in the side pockets!

Field-Tested for -30°C & Below

It has the highest Thermal Experience Index (TEI) making it the warmest parka in the Canada Goose collection. It’s field-tested for temperatures of -30°C and below, ensuring you stay warm and protected from the harshest winter conditions.

Who Should Buy Expedition Parka?

The Canada Goose Expedition Parka is perfect for some who live in a cold climate and needs extra protection from the frigid winter temperatures. It is also ideal for anyone who is planning a winter trip or trekking expedition in a place where temperatures drop below -30°C. The Expedition Parka will keep you warm and comfortable no matter what the weather throws at you!

Final Thoughts

Our final thoughts about the Canada Goose Expedition Parka are that it is truly a remarkable piece of clothing. Not only does it keep us warm and comfortable in Winnipeg, but it also looks great and has plenty of pockets for all our winter essentials. It is perfect for those who live in cold climates or are planning a trip to a place with frigid temperatures. We would definitely recommend the Expedition Parka to anyone looking for superior warmth and protection from the elements!
